Isuzu draws its roots from a Tokyo shipbuilding company when they decided to begin manufacturing automobiles in 1916. In 1949 the Japanese shipbuilding company officially changed its name to Isuzu and proved itself to be a respected automaker when their trucks became widely popular in Japan for aiding in the Japanese reconstruction.
In the 1980’s Isuzu came to the US with the introduction of the Pup, the first Isuzu sold in the US. From there Isuzu teamed up with Subaru, spawning the Trooper SUV, Isuzu Rodeo, and Isuzu Pickup. Throughout the 1990’s, Isuzu saw much success with the Rodeo and Trooper series. However, because of intense competition, the 2000’s weren’t so kind to Isuzu for, in 2009, Isuzu ceased operations in the United States.
